TimeSlip was started in November 2014. Originally the band played covers by artists such as Bob Dylan, Graham Parsons and the Byrds. After a few months guitarist and lead singer Mark Taylor, who has strong jazz leanings, began writing original songs, mostly to connect with his roots in Southern Arizona and the Sonoran Desert. People who heard the songs responded enthusiastically so Mark wrote some more songs and continues to write. The original band was dissolved in October 2016, a few months after the first CD was recorded. Mark effectively retired from performance though he continued to write new songs.
In 2017 bassist Jimmy V. approached Mark about reforming the band in order to play the annual OUR FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT fundraising event at the Flat Twelve Beerworks. Mark agreed. Sax player Guy Holbert was asked to return. Keyboard/Alto Sax/Vocalist Nancy Lerch was asked to joi.n. Nancy had played in the original band as a substitute keyboardist. Drummer Paris Brown and percussionist Frank Loyd were new additions. Percussionist Juan Ferres who sometimes performs with the band was also invited to return.
